If you’d like to know more about geopoetics - where it came from, what it is, where it’s going - tomorrow teatime’s Online Conversation between Alan Riach, poet and Professor of Scottish Literature at the University of Glasgow, and Norman Bissell, Director of the Scottish Centre for Geopoetics, is not to be missed. It’s a rare opportunity to find out all about his new book Living on an Island which Alan has described as “an extraordinary compendium of a book, a wonderfully readable autobiographical account of a poet’s accommodation with the ecology of life on a small island.” Professor Máiréad Nic Craith, Institute for Northern Studies, University of the Highlands and Islands, says it’s “a frank and personal look behind the scenes of the geopoetics movement”. A friend in Asheville (who with Scotland’s @SCGeopoetics set up Geopoetics Appalachia, ) surveys hurricane damage to her garden. I know 5 people there and they’re testifying to the grace of #community at this time. One is lending out her house while abroad.
